08.06.2011 - Here is the interview with Max Dynamic, an australian manager, playing horse racing game Newturf.com. This interview was published at Newturf facebook funpage, read it and maybe try to play the game :)
NEWTURF:
Who are you, Max Dynamic? Could you please introduce yourself?

MAX DYNAMIC:
Hey my name is Adam from the stable Max Dynamic, Im from Byron Bay NSW in Australia.

NEWTURF:
Is horseracing popular in Australia?

MAX DYNAMIC:
Yes indeed, horse racing here in Australia is massive at the moment, its very in vogue. People here are very social and a day at the races is the perfect and regular social event among us, well most of my friends would agree. Everyone loves to dress up to the nine's and watch the fillies go by :)

NEWTURF:
Are you a horseracing fan? Or a strategy online game fan?

MAX DYNAMIC:
I am not the biggest horse racing fan but i am a regular down at the track, and i spend most Saturday mornings listening to the daily preview. My stable name originated from the number of sims that i play, so i guess i'm a little bit of both! I absolutely love strategy games.

NEWTURF:
How did you did hear about Newturf the first time? Do you remember?

MAX DYNAMIC:
I first found out about NewTurf from the BVR site (http://www.bestvirtualracing.com/), i followed the link to the Hooves page and i was set. Little did i know at the time i was going to join the owner of that site and become one of his team mates here at Team Buzz, thanks Matt :)

NEWTURF:
After a few month history (you created your stable on the 16th of Jan this year), can you confirm to readers that Newturf is a stragegy game or is it a scam?

MAX DYNAMIC:
I can definitely say NewTurf is a pure strategy/management no scam. There is a lot to learn, Drive/jockey, most essential is breeding, these things consume time to learn and it takes a few months to grasp the whole thing really. I'm still learning the basics lol

NEWTURF:
Do you believe you would still be there if you had not been hired by the Team Buzz?

MAX DYNAMIC:
Its hard to say really, i found the set up to be structured only for the team aspect, as there really was not much to go by in the way of instructions, well none that i was used to acquiring. It would have been a little more frustrating :)

NEWTURF:
Is the Team system fun and relevant in such an online simulation game?

MAX DYNAMIC:
For this Sim with out a doubt, once you get used to the idea of being part of the team environment i couldn't go back to solo sim. You have the opportunity to fine tune all aspects of the game within the team platform and then take it to the public arena for a better chance. Most of our team races have been the best part, and competitive! There is no more satisfaction than trumping your team mates, it's a healthy rivalry. There is also this underlying drive of trying to kick some French butt! lol

NEWTURF:
How do you spend your time on the game? Is it too time consuming?

MAX DYNAMIC:
Yes it is time consuming but that is part of the strategy, research is the most part for me really.
When i 1st joined up i spend 3 days straight trying to grasp as much as i could before going back to work, i played the claiming game and within 5 days i must have had 40+ horses!it was fun claiming for peanuts and learning to drive.
Now days its still much of the same, still researching and trying to learn as much as i can, i'm trying to learn the training aspect as i'm not much of a breeder.. yet!

NEWTURF:
As far as I can see, you do not like long distance? Why not? Have you thought about hiring a jockey and start competing on these very challenging distance?

MAX DYNAMIC:
Yeah the last 40 days doesn't reflect much but i did have some success last season and i would say i like the classic distance but i'm still trying to master the 1600m drive! once i master that and breed some competitive horses i will get more involved in the longer format.

NEWTURF:
What do you think about Newturf strategy to grow the virtual racing owners community by proposing gaming sites to integrate a pool betting offering on our virtual races (every bets being pooled into a single database, whatever the gaming sites it comes from)? Basically, Newturf considers itself as a racetrack and does not wish to take bets on its own website but wish other sites to deal with that in order to grow Newturf popularity and attract new virtual horse owners. Any comments on this strategy?

MAX DYNAMIC:
Expansion of the population in NewTurf is always going to be a great thing for the racing side of the game, but my personal feelings for pool betting is not as good.
I'm always weary when it comes to this type of gambling. There are always some that will exploit it and ruin it for most, corruption is usually what ruins these things and i know of other sims where it happens. Pool betting is not allowed for me anyway but i would always like to know what my odds were before a race, it would be part of the excitement for sure.

NEWTURF:
Which change would you bring to the game in order to improve customer retention?

MAX DYNAMIC:
This is a tough question because i can't really pin point 1 major thing to change. For me its just little tweaks that would suffice, like the race winnings % for the first 5 places could be restructure to support better winnings for 1st place and then divide the rest for the minor placings. Its hard enough to win a full field race and when you do its noted that 2nd and 3rd place almost get as much.
Apart from that minor thing i really like this game, its frustratingly fun and rewarding.

NEWTURF:
Many thanks for your time and consideration , Adam. We hope you will enjoy the game for a very long time and bring a lot of other australian people around.
