News: PSG chasing

Cabaye and Pjanic

29.01.2014 - Paris Saint Germain coach Laurent Blanc has admitted he is interesting in signing either Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye or Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
The ambitious Parisians are believed to be looking at signing a creative midfielder to aid their title defence and chances in the French football betting during the second half of the season, with Blanc confirming Cabaye and Pjanic are on his wish-list.

Blanc has never hidden his admiration for Cabaye, handing the Newcastle midfielder his international debut during his time as France boss back in 2010, and the PSG chief is rumoured to have been chasing the Magpies star for a while.

Roma’s Pjanic is another ball-playing midfielder and one who Blanc would be equally happy to sign. The Bosnian star has been one of Serie A’s best players this year, catching Blanc’s eye with a string of eye-catching performances for Roma since the beginning of this season.

While Blanc has dismissed talk he has a number one target, he has admitted he would be delighted to sign either Cabaye or Pjanic, although conceded it would be hard to land either of the pair during this transfer window.

“Cabaye and Pjanic are actually two of our targets, they are two players we want. They are similar, they have the same profile of a very technical midfielder. There are two alternatives, there is no choice of number one or number two.”

"There are negotiations ongoing, but it's hard to complete them in January. I would be very happy to have a midfielder."

PSG are currently on course to defend their Ligue 1 title this season but their hopes would be significantly improved with the addition of a new midfielder to the squad. The club are also preparing for their Champions League last-16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen.
